Fantastic start to the year 2019 for FINTA - PONGAL 2019 and TN Students visit
It has been a fantastic start to the year 2019 for FINTA with two blockbuster events already in the month of January !!
On 19th Jan we celebrated our traditional Pongal event with traditional fervor; it was a truly memorable event that transported us all back to TN for one afternoon. With a record attendance of close to 300 participants we touched base with the regular dance and song based programs. This time however we went one up by arranging Kolam competition, Kayiru Izhuthal, Uri adithal and Pattimandram.
We should be extremely proud of ourselves for the effort that we put in to bring these events alive. The attention to detail given for every single program is proof of our love to our culture and traditions. The lengths we went to bring the authentic Kola podi from India, the innovations to put together the Uri and the utter enthusiasm to participate in the Kayiru izhuthal is truly remarkable. The fact that these events came after our kids and adults burnt the stage a few times already with our regular dance and song events made this Pongal event extra special !
The mouth watering traditional dinner served on Vaazhai ilai was specially as usual. Actually I think the taste of the food gets better each year - and I have a theory for this - Our awesome volunteers who prepare the dishes want to out class the previous event's dishes. So year after year they sweat it out in the kitchen to serve us truly satisfying line up of our South Indian delicacies. Kudos to every one of you guys !
Even before the exitement of Pongal 2019 subsided, we got news of 50 School students from TN visiting Finland on an educational tour. FINTA decided to felicitate these youngsters and sprung into action. In a matter of few days, with immense support from all FINTA members - some financial and others by task ownership - we were able to arrange a memorable event for the visiting kids.
It was to the credit of the students themselves and the staff managing their visit an entire afternoon was made available for FINTA. The visting kids danced, sang and showed off their other skills much to the enjoyment of our local kids and parents here. FINTA presented them with some memorabilia to take home but it was the love appreciation showered on them that will remain in their memories as these awesome students grow up to become responsible citizens of our motherland.
Good show kids ! - Thank you for making time for FINTA !!
